The CCS Academy programme aims to inform, enable and empower students to solve climate change problems. Participants will have the opportunity to gain exclusive insights from climate change experts while simultaneously having the chance to develop project proposals in teams that address climate change where the winning project will win £500.
After last year's successful CCS Hackathon, Cambridge Climate Society (CCS) is excited to announce that it is launching a CCS Academy!
The CCS Academy offers students interactive sessions and workshops led by leading climate experts in Climate Science, Policy, Justice and Literacy. The Academy will conclude with the opportunity for attendees to use what they have learned to solve climate-related problems in a project competition.
The CCS Academy will hold 4 expert-led workshop sessions in Michaelmas that aim to encourage a deep understanding of the complexities of climate change. The final session involves students presenting project proposals to climate-related problems developed over the course of the academy. These proposals will be presented to a panel of judges who will select the winning team to receive a prize of £500 while all attendees will receive a CCS Academy Certification.
Students from all degree areas and courses are encouraged to apply to engage in the sessions and compete in the Academy Challenge. Students can either apply as an individual and then be paired up with other passionate students for the project proposal component of the academy or you can apply as a team (between 2-5 individuals). If applying as a team be sure to fill out all the relevant sections that apply to teams. The first round application deadline is on the 12th of October and the academy only has limited spots (30) so be sure to apply early to secure a spot!
