Advisory Board

Sir David King
Sir David King was the UK's permanent Special Representative for Climate Change from September 2013 until March 2017. Sir David was previously the Government’s Chief Scientific Advisor from 2000 to 2007.

He also served as the Founding Director of the Smith School of Enterprise and Environment at Oxford; was Head of the Department of Chemistry at Cambridge University 1993-2000 and Master of Downing College at Cambridge 1995 -2000.
Dr Emily Shuckburgh
Dr Emily Shuckburgh is Director of Cambridge Zero at the University of Cambridge and Reader in Environmental Data Science at the Department of Computer Science and Technology. She leads the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training on the Application of AI to the study of Environmental Risks (AI4ER). Until April 2019 she led a UK national research programme on the Southern Ocean and its role in climate (ORCHESTRA), and was deputy head of the Polar Oceans Team and head of the Data Science Group at British Antarctic Survey.
Professor Laura Diaz Anadon
Professor Laura Diaz Anadon holds the chaired Professorship of Climate Change Policy at the University of Cambridge. At Cambridge she is also a Bye-Fellow at Peterhouse, and the Director of C-EENRG. She is also a Research Associate at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). In April 2018, she was selected as a Lead Author in the 6th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Working Group III on Climate Change Mitigation.
Professor David Newbery
Professor David Newbery is the director of the Energy Policy Research Group (EPRG) at Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the British Academy and of the Econometric Society. He is Vice-Chairman of Cambridge Economic Policy Associates and is an occasional consultant to the World Bank, Ofgem, Ofwat, and ORR. He has been a member of the Competition Commission and chairman of the Dutch electricity Market Surveillance Committee.
Clare Shine
Clare Shine is the Director and CEO of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. She was previously Vice President and Chief Program Officer at Salzburg Global Seminar, and has also worked as an independent environmental lawyer and policy adviser for intergovernmental bodies, governments, business and NGOs, focusing on biodiversity, climate change, coastal and marine systems, public health, governance, trade, equity and rights, and conflict transformation.
Chris Gibbs
Chris Gibbs is the Investment Manager at Cambridge Enterprise, and has spent over 15 years in UK high tech spin-outs and technology transfer. While Head of Engineering at CMR Fuel Cells in Cambridge, Chris led multi-disciplinary teams developing and delivering cleantech products to major multinational partners. He also co-founded Amalyst, a spin-out from University College London where, as Chief Technology Officer, he led its efforts in novel catalyst development for the energy transition.
